Dark Side Of 1888

The Ripper Murders

The end is at hand

The last of the Ripper murders took place on Thursday, November the 8th at 13 Millers Court. It was to be his youngest and prettiest red-haired victim, Irish born Mary Jane Kelly, yet it would be the most appallingly mutilated body, and the only victim murdered in her own home in the Rippers final frenzied attack.

The murder was discovered on Friday at 10.45 am by the rent collector who on getting no answer peered through a broken window where he made the horrific discovery. The police had to break the door with a pickaxe. With blood everywhere and organs that were positioned around the flat, it was, without doubt, the most atrocious of the Ripper murders.

As the Ripper was never caught and speculations have grown over the years as to his identity, countless books, films and theories have all been written. It could I suppose be classed as the perfect crime, with the killer getting away free.

Of all the suspects’ accounts that I have read, it is my considered opinion that the Ripper has only come to light in recent times. I strongly believe it was James Maybrick the Liverpool textile merchant, who spent time in the east end of London at the time the murders were committed. After reading The Diary of Jack the Ripper and the book Jack the Ripper the Final Chapter, I am left in no doubt.
