Little Britain

A charming row of back streets which are hidden from the busy rush of city life. It was here that Mr Jaggers had his forbidding office in Dickens Great Expectations. The name 'Little Britain' is said to have come from an old house on this site owned by the Duke of Brittany. From the reign of Henry I the great Bartholomew’s fair was held yearly up until 1840. It was the most important cloth fair in England lasting three days during the late Middle Ages.
