Hadleigh Castle was built by the Normans and constructed over seven centuries ago.
Situated 35 Miles along the River Thames from the Tower of London.
Overlooking Hadleigh Marshes are these impressive remains of a mighty fortress,
with the barbican and two of its towers that still remain standing today.
It has had a long and historic existence eventually falling into ruin.
It has been painted by both Turner and John Constable.
Trains from London's Fenchurch Street to Leigh-on-Sea.
